Well, it started off with a project collecting live insects. One of my kids has a severe winged insect phobia ( certain bugs only)that leads to panic attacks. The other enjoys causing his brother to have panic attacks. One of them cried at least once a day on alternating days. The vocab lessons contain Latin. I went four days straight without having time to shower. And by Friday afternoon , Cooper was threatening to sue me over the curriculum I chose.
So we’ll say there’s a slight learning curve taking 13 year old kids from public to Christian homeschooling, 🙂
They really enjoyed collecting the bees who were swarming our rose of Sharon bush in the backyard...so they kind of obsessed over collecting them in between every subject and it was a fight to get them back inside . We had lidded mason jars of bees all over the place; including our dining room table, bathrooms, and bottom of our pool to test their ability to survive in 10 feet of water.
Friday, Cooper was HOT, fiery and raging against the machine ( I’m the machine in this scenario).
It had been a rough week. He actually hit his brother with a chair earlier in the week, Bobby Knight style. But Bobby knight was ejected from the Purdue game...I can’t eject Cooper from the house . So by Friday we reached boiling point.
I’m telling you what. I didn’t know WHAT to do. So, I prayed.
His dad came to take them for the weekend and we made Cooper stay home. That threw him into another fit of rage on top of the raging rage he was already raging in . Then, we had dinner together and the Lord showed up...I mean He SHOWED UP y’all!! He gave me words to speak, and so much wisdom for the moment....AND He gave Cooper ears to hear it . It was AMAZING!!
We watched Cooper have a total paradigm shift during our conversation. We hugged. And he’s NOT a hugger. Then we took him to his dads house. Thank you Jesus!!!
That’s how homeschooling went.
Only 35 weeks left to go.
